PLACES 2024

Explore the Program

This year’s conference will be hosted in Walla Walla on October 16-18, 2024! We will explore how we can redefine our metrics of success to prioritize social impact, community engagement, and inclusivity, and how we can all have more fun along the way as we learn, think, discover, and play.

Considering these ideas from multiple perspectives and industries, we’ve selected three guiding questions for this year’s conference:

  1. How can the preservation field honor intangible heritage and share stories of place, particularly in the absence of physical structures?
  2. Given the built environment’s influence on our wellbeing, what types of programs and infrastructure are needed to foster social connection and healthy communities?
  3. How can our historic neighborhoods continue to adapt in ways that encourage people to take risks, experiment, and learn together?

We are excited to explore these guiding questions with you at Walla Walla!

More for PLACES 2024

Previous Conference Highlight | 2023

Our 2023 conference was hosted in the lovely Vancouver, WA. With presenters and attendees from all corners of the state and all realms of preservation, placemaking, and economic development, this conference was full of learning, networking, and fun. Not to mention our very first ice cream party and pitch competition!

Check out some of our favorite memories in the Facebook album below.
