From ghost tours to haunted histories to magic shows, we're thrilled to bring you a host of programs to celebrate the Halloween season! Not only will you enjoy one of these spooky events, but all programs are hosted in our historic (and haunted) Stimson-Green Mansion, located in the heart of Seattle's First Hill neighborhood.

“History and Horror: Tragedies and Creepy Coincidences in Capitol Hill History"

From ghost sightings to suspected murder to shady dealings, join us for a collection of harrowing tales from Capitol Hill’s history, presented by Tom Heuser! In his lecture, Tom, architectural historian and co-founder of the Capitol Hill Historical Society, shares stories of horrific historical events that he’s come across over the years as a resident and steward of historic Capitol Hill. In addition, he’ll share accounts of his own strange experiences in the pursuit of history and preservation.

Terrifying Tales Presented by Horror Writers Association of Seattle

Join us for a night of harrowing stories, written by local horror writers! Presented by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation and the Horror Writers Association Seattle Chapter, local horror writers will take over Stimson-Green for an evening filled with twisted tales, all set in haunted houses. Kick-start your spooky season with this reading of original stories about the things that go bump when the lights go out at the mansion.

Halloween Trivia & Costume Party

Join us for a night of spooky trivia at the historic (and haunted) Stimson-Green Mansion! We’re bringing you some of the best trivia in town hosted by Head in the Clouds Pop-Up Trivia, founded by two “Jeopardy!” champions. Grab your friends, don a costume, and enjoy a night of creepy trivia in this historic Mansion.

"Listening in the Dark: Stories of American Spiritualism from 1848-1926"

Part history lecture, part magic show! Explore the origins of the Spiritualism movement with David Hirata, professional magician and storyteller. We will delve into the movement’s beginnings in the Victorian world, meet the mediums who gave voice to the ghosts, and discover what happens when a solace for grief becomes mass entertainment. In addition to his speech, David’s magic will bring classic Spiritualism practices such as psychic vibrations and “spirit readings” to life before your very eyes.

Silent Reading Night with Haunted Burrow Books AND Friends of The Seattle Public Library Pop-Up Shop

What's better than reading in a historic (and haunted) house? Bring your books, knitting, journals, sketchbooks, chessboard, or any other quiet activity and enjoy them in the quiet company of others. We’ll have live piano in our historic library and quieter spaces throughout the house. Find a place to sit amongst the antiques and spend the evening in quiet community with others. We’ll also be joined by Haunted Burrow Books, a pop-up bookstore in Seattle focusing on horror, fantasy, and other moody books!

Ghost Tours of the Stimson-Green Mansion

The Stimson-Green Mansion has its own fair share of ghostly inhabitants. At the ripe old age of 125 years old, how could it not? But as anyone who's worked here will tell you, the Mansion's ghosts are all friendly... mostly. On this ghost tour, hear true stories of eerie encounters with the ghosts who call the Stimson-Green Mansion home.
