Our mission is to illuminate lesser-known aspects of history and the natural world through storytelling and works of art. We collaborate with clients and communities to share untold stories, ultimately helping them achieve their unique goals and visions.

Studio Understory is a women-owned company specializing in interpretive planning and exhibit creation for clients such as museums, non-profits, and public agencies. Co-founders Laura Frick and Angela Mele are Certified Interpretive Planners with diverse skill sets ranging from project management to collections care, interpretive writing, and scientific illustration. We partner with talented designers, fabricators, and other professionals to bring interpretive experiences to life.
